I would invite Katherine Anne Porter, Eudora Welty, Flannery O'Conner, Robert Penn Warren, and John Walker Percy.

carl jung (front right, as a youngling, with freud and co), william james, eleanor roosevelt (as a stamp from india), marianne boruch (my fav poet right now), and John The Baptist.

we'd eat tons of veges, particularly eggplant and asparagus and tomatoes. for the carnivours, i'd enlist my hunter brother to get some elk roast--or perhaps wild boar. dessert would be an old-fashioned gooseberry pie....or maybe a nice raisin cream pie.
shaved ice for home-made minted lemonade would also be on the menu.
as well as some nice blended bourbon on ice.

I would invite my father (because I don't remember him well), my mother (so she could see Dad again), Jerry Garcia (for Dad to meet), Boz Scaggs OR Van Morrisson (for Mom to meet-- I'd let her choose between them), and Jack Kerouac (for both Dad and me to meet).

We would eat chicken and dumplings that I cooked with fresh bread, sweet tea and fresh strawberries and watermelon for dessert.
A note upon his desk
"P.S. Bring Me Home And Have Me!"
Leather elbows on a tweed coat
Is THAT the best you can do ?
So came his reply :
"But on the desk is where I want you!"
