Very interesting essay on the social class divisions in American youth that are becoming more evident through who uses Facebook and who uses MySpace.

In 2004 when I entered college my hallmates all had facebook and I didn't want it... until midterms came around and I needed a way to organize study groups, so I got it and used it for the first 2 years primarily to do just that. Interesting article- although my family is very much low income- to the point that I get my 20somethousand dollar a year education free, so that is my two cents.
A note upon his desk
"P.S. Bring Me Home And Have Me!"
Leather elbows on a tweed coat
-Oh!-
Is THAT the best you can do ?
So came his reply :
"But on the desk is where I want you!"

After an absence of almost a year I finally have our rugby team's site back up and running at http://www.salinarugby.com. I don't have much up there right now, mainly because I'm waiting to get some newer pictures. The most recent ones I have are from at least three years ago.

Ashes and Snow
caution: it is a flash site and you will need updated flash to view the site properly (the site should give you the right updates if you need them).
click on explore, don't rush--by all means, don't rush.
it's all for real, no hoaxes---even the whale pictures!!!

this is a news clip from the artist. in the clip, he'll tell you the story about the boy and the elephant. some of you may scoff, others may react the way i did.

this is either a clip from the documentary, or a promotional clip. that's Ken Tatanabe's voice--Ken is a total stud.

if you explore the site, you will encounter things like this:

it's been a little under a week since i viewed the Ashes and Snow DVD.
it is something you would see at the art cinema; the narration is a long poem concerning 365 letters written to the princess of elephants. really quite a nice sentiment.

and seeing those images in movement ... ...very cool stuff. i don't know if a public library would have something like this, but if your local one does, it may be worth your ~60 minutes. ;)

oh yeah; part of the soundtrack is none other than my beloved Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan :D :D :D

i love the lolcats! :D

i know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but the cover of this is ridiculously amateurish (i think the title test might have been done with wordart in microsoft word). the description isn't well-written either. no wonder it's far from being a best-seller (i found it purely by accident when trying to buy some coathangers online).

i love it  this is my effort:

(i think i'd better explain that in the UK we used to have a very famous advertfor ferrero rocher (the chocolates in the picture) which tried to give them a more upmarket/posh/luxurious kind of image. it was a badly-dubbed version of the italian advert which included lines like "oh, mr ambassador, with these ferrero rocher you are really spoiling us!" which is often mocked over here because ferrero rocher are pretty cheap and easy to find. it's worth watching the advert for the sheer cheesiness of it!)

This was from the other day - afterwards Jonathan said something like "woah, I almost slipped in then!" :o
