The All-New File Sharing Thread

All about The Smiths' music, gigs, stories, anything.

Postby elko » Sun Apr 16, 2006 11:15 pm

I guess I knew it would happen, but hoped it wouldn't. By having the password out in the open for the GMail account, it allowed anyone with a vicious mind to delete all the files on there. I'll give you all one guess as to who it was. I guess we have been upsetting the internet gods recently...

So here is the deal. You now need to PM me to get the password. I guess it's a shame, but it's the only way really. If you are a new member and you want access then the best thing is to stick around and be nice for a while. Kinda sad that we can't be more trusting, but there you go.

Also I'm going to try and keep an up to date list of what's on there, so if you upload anything, please mention it here. Try and avoid posting album tracks if possible, just keep it to b-sides, live tracks, demos, etc.

Files so far:

Sister I'm A Poet (Studio version)
Pregnant For The Last Time (Studio version)
Handsome Devil (Live, Hand In Glove b-side)
Accept Yourself (Studio version, This Charming Man b-side)
Work Is A Four Letter Word
Reel Around The Fountain (cover by Fun People)
Boxers (live)
I'm Playing Easy To Get (and introduction, Janice Long session)
Redondo Beach
Striptease With a Difference (Remastered, .m4a)
Bed Took Fire (.m4a)
Golden Lights (original, by Twinkle)
Work Is A Four-Letter Word (original, by Cilla Black)
The Draize Train
I Keep Mine Hidden
Colin Meloy sings Morrissey (tracks from EP)
I Know Very Well How I Got My Name
I've Changed My Plea To Guilty
Marie's The Name (His Latest Flame) (original, by Elvis)
Striptease With A Difference ('master quality')
This Charming Man (Billy Bragg, Marr & Rourke)
Back To The Old House (Billy Bragg, Marr & Rourke)
This May Be The Last Time (Billy Bragg, Marr & Rourke)
Thank Your Lucky Stars (live 1986 gig)

If you can't find something that is on the list, use the GMail search facility.

So, the files have been deleted?
oh, that silly bastard - if he/she thinks that would stop us...OK, we'll be uploading again.
I cannot really remember all the stuff we had on there - so any reminders would be welcome.
If anyone has any requests - please...

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I've managed to get hold of "The Bad Boy From A Good Family" bootleg - which has these extra tracks. The quality is not fantastic, but certainly listenable. If anybody is interested, send me a PM and I'll give you a download link (at 29MB, it's probably too big for the Gmail account - plus it would take far too long to upload). ;)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I never used the gmail account before but it sounds good. Shame some idiots have to spoil it.

I've uploaded a few tracks that were on there before (the last month or so I realised it was a bit dangerous to have it out in the open, so I had it automatically forward a copy of everything to another account. Will do the same this time).

Have sent the password out to everyone who has asked so far.

If you could upload the one with Billy Bragg, that'd be grand.

Think I've updated the list, but the last track from the TYLS gig seems to be missing?

According to <a href="http://boyracer.ifrance.com/smiths/luckystars.htm" target="_blank">this</a>, anyway.
