Years of Refusal

For all things concerning Moz's solo career.

Years of Refusal

Postby Pashernate_Lover » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:20 am

I just love it! He sounds like over the years he is getting more and more operatic and rockin'. In his 20s he sounded a lot more sweet and bitter and soft spoken and now he seems like an operatic rockstar that is artistically pissed off and mocking in an intellectual way. ...well, those are my thoughts after a couple of listens. I like it better than Ringleader of the Tormentors, even though it doesn't have that Life Is A Pigsty of a gem...then again, how many things do?

SO,What do you think? Love it? Hate it? Think its okay?

I am in the "It's ok" category re YOR.
"Something is squeezing.." is fab and I love the drumming towards the end.
I always skip the Carol song. It's the Spanish/Latino feel to it that I am not keen on, I guess.
"All you need is me" was my fav song last year so it's already included in TGH and could have
been easily replaced by "Shame is the name" or the fab "My dearest love" ( that were both used as
B-sides :o )
I am looking forward to the gigs I will be attending anyway and I am sure I will enjoy all the songs
regardless.

"Its Not Your Birthday Anymore" is pretty freaking risque "All the gifts that they gave can't compare in any way to the love I am now giving to you right here right now on the floor" ...oh my... the floor? Wow Mozza...

I love it. 'Carol ' is fantastic. The band sounds great, and yes I like it more that ROTT and YATQ.

'It's Not Your Birthday Anymore' is my favorite. And yes, ON THE FLOOR! I've been on the floor.

The album rocks, but it has that pop feeling I always want to hear when I listen to Morrissey.

Russel Brand interviewed Morrissey about the album... and it was a serious interview! And get this... they are apparently friends of some sort! Imagine that, Russel freaking Brand! Weird combo, but good in my opinion :)
