His eight studio albums ranked

For all things concerning Moz's solo career.

Live At Earls Court? Morrissey's band couldn't even perform Marr's material correctly.

I have to say I'm broadly in agreement with this, even if I wouldn't put it quite so bluntly! I know it's not really fair to compare, but compared to the Smiths in terms of talent and imagination, Morrissey is now being back by a glorified pub band. They're adequate, they're competent but they lack any real sort of inspiration. I was pretty bemused by There Is A Light on the last tour - it was the song I wanted to hear more than any other, but it was pretty dead really. They played it again as an encore and it was slightly better (just in case anyone might think I'm being negative :P )

Alain is his best songwriting partner since Johnny!

Bona Drag is no studio album and you're supposed to rank Morrissey's 8 studioalbums on this thread....

ringleader - number 1
quarry - number 2
maladjusted - number 3

and so on ... they only move down the list as he makes something new, everything hes done is as good as another, its just the hand of chance which affects our own ability to appreciate it, some of us just dont grow up very clever, its not our fault

Interesting take - do you mean they're all equally brilliant, or that he'll continue to surpass himself with every release?

Welcome to the forum btw :)

I don't think I will ever lose my addiction to My Early Burglary Years, in it's defence. It is an amazing album.

-Oh!-
Is THAT the best you can do ?
So came his reply :

I will rank the 6 I own:

Vauxhall And I
Your Arsenal
Viva Hate
You Are The Quarry
Kill Uncle/Ringleader

I love Vauxhall And I, it really changed my life in many ways, it's a work of art as an album (ie more than the sum of parts), and is currently my favourite album of any artist, for reasons given in the thread I started on it a while back. Your Arsenal, Viva Hate and YATQ are all very good albums with some individual great songs. Kill Uncle and Ringleader are good albums, don't get me wrong, and I listen to them quite often, but apart from the odd tune they don't really stand out.

I bought Bona Drag, very good compilation indeed, although really I would count it as an album as it actually has more new songs on it than Hatful Of Hollow for example.
