We Were Dead Before the Ship Started Sinking

For all he has done since The Smiths.

Personally I adore it! It's just an excellent album, great guitar work! Backing vocals from James Mercer contrast with Issac Brock very well. My favourite is "Parting of the Sensory"

Listened two and a bit times, it's mainly good but way too long, and not varied enough. It gets mushy and bland. The opening guitar on 'Dashboard' is so obviously Marr, also the chorus on 'Florida'. Other than that it's hard to spot his influence - possibly because The Smiths would have influenced Modest Mouse already.

It really is, isn't it!! One of my favourite songs in ages.

Also, someone spot the bit on 'Missed The Boat' that I thought of as entirely Marr-esque.

I only know DASHBOARD... I know it's Marr, but it's also Modest Mouse. I am not too crazy about them.

I wasn't a big Modest Mouse fan either, but this album is definitely more accessible and ear-friendly, I like it a lot. (Moon and Antarctica had some good songs also). But Marr has definitely made me listen to more Modest Mouse. TC, I could return you the favor and throw some songs your way off the new album...
