Vinny Peculiar

What have the rhythm section been up to since The Smiths?

Turns out he's not bad, albeit not great. Some downloads available here:

'Calm Me Down' is probably the only song I really like.

Oh, that's cool, I haven't actually heard any of his stuff. It's so irritating, he was playing (fairly) near me last week but I couldn't go because it finished too late and there weren't anymore trains. Also, it turns out that Aldershot (where he was playing) is a hell of a lot further away than I thought it was. I really wish I could have gone though.

I decree today that life is simply taking and not giving
England is mine, it owes me a living
But ask me why and I'll spit in your eye
Oh, ask me why and I'll spit in your eye
But we cannot cling to the old dreams anymore
No, we cannot cling to those dreams
Does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body?
I dunno...
Under the iron bridge we kissed
And although I ended up with sore lips
It just wasn't like the old days anymore
No, it wasn't like those days
Am I still ill...?

The site now has a forum. Vinny has posted, and Mike Joyce has registered. It'll be interesing to see how long they keep up with their own posts. Poor Andy, no doubt Andy I from M-solo will eventually find it. She used to pester poor Andy on his own site. Sorry, not one to slander anyone really. Vinny's diary is an interesting read as well. I forgot what some of the songs sound like, I'll have to check it out again. I do remember thinking I could like their stuff, as opposed to a group I wouldn't bother with. I hope they're successful.

Anyone catch Vinny Peculiar on Janice Long's show earlier this month? For anyone interested:

<a href='http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/mainframe.shtml?http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio2_aod.shtml?radio2/r2_long_tue' target='_blank'>here</a>
It starts 30 min into the show and lasts for about 25 minutes.

They played 2 songs, both of which I liked. They didn't play the upcoming single '2 Fat Lovers' though, which I've heard is getting airplay over there. I like Vinny's voice. Reminds me of British Sea Power.
The interview is pretty funny. Mike and Andy talk briefly about the Smiths with Mike mentioning Strangeways being his favorite album. I think a fact already known.

Oh! CRAIG GANNON joins them, at least for the Janice Long session. It wasn't mentioned on Vinny's site, but on Mike's site.
