SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES - Red Light

Eerie, sombre, monotome, slightly sleezy... Those were the golden days of gothness...

SOFT CELL - Torch

By the way, the re-made version of Say Hello Wave Goodbye is really good. Marc's vocal sound a lot more powerful than in the original version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfRXOORev-A

I've been listening to Bauhaus a lot again lately. As much as Peter Murphy of Bauhaus is credited as godfather of goth, I wonder if we'd ever have seen Bauhaus as we know them today if it wasn't for Dave Vanian of the Damned. Maybe Dave is the real pioneer when it comes to gothness, and a great vocalist as well (I love bariton voices!). Although Bauhaus sounded very different, it cannot be questioned they were influenced by Dave Vanian, as were many early goth acts.

After all those years, New Rose and Smash It Up to me are still amongst the best punk songs ever. Those songs are timeless.

I listen to Die Krupps - To The Hilt! (what does "hilt" mean??)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_Ec81NuvPA

Die Krupps are a German band and pioneers of the EBM/industrial scene. Their lyrics are very left-wing and anti-nazi, with Germany's violent past being a theme in several of their songs. The name also refers to the Krupps dynasty who, if I remember history lessons well, were involved in the nazi weapon industry (but as written, the band is very anti-nazi and left-wing, quite the opposite of the people they named the band after)

Dave Vanian looks stunning in those early videos like Smash It Up, New Rose and Griemly Fiendish. Well, that said, he still looks very cool, I saw The Damned live in late 2006, he still got a lot of charms.

I listen to LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT - Black Cat

Sean Brennan looks fantastic as well!

London After Midnight is about becoming my new musical obsession. Listened to them very often lately, and the new CD is really good as well. Politically laden lyrics with a morbid touch, a few more romantic songs, and dark goth/darkwave esque music that still sounds more original than 90% of the other bands in this style of music. On http://www.myspace.com/lam you can hear some songs of the new album. Buy it, you won't regret it!
