I rediscovered one of my earliest musical crushes: "celtic punk" band The Levellers.

Currently listening to Just The One, a song perfectly mixing the punk sound with the atmosphere of the average Irish pub down the street:

I wrote a small piece on the band (including more videos) in my blog: http://seekingcrackedpleasures.blogspot.com :)

I was telling Boxguy about this today, Nusratji was originally trained on the tabla. He claps in this video. Madly. It would not surprise me if I've watched this 100 times in the past month. I love it.

Do tell! I've been listening to them for quite a number of months now. In fact I'm listening to Big Bang at the moment.

I'm really suprised you've both heard of them - I didn't think they were much more than another local band. Not that they aren't good, but there are a few good bands here and none of them are exactly world-renowned. And as Santa Dog are a little older (I would say between 28 and 35) I'm suprised they've been pushing so hard to get their music out.

They are all really very nice people, especially the guitarist. He often does the sound at one of the main Bristol venues, The Louisiana. He said we (The Bumblebees) sounded like Orange Juice, which is about the nicest compliment I could personally have. He has a really nice playing style, a lot like Our Johnny I think, with a bit more of a jazz influence.

I've given up trying to resist listening to Nusrat. It appears I'm stuck with him, which is OK :D
