Youtube songs that define a music scene, genre, etc.

Completely nicked from another forum, I think it's a fantastic way to introduce or uncover new songs or old gems.
Find 3 songs on YouTube that link the music to a scene, record label, genre, time or even place.

Haircuts (and good music) in common:
The Pale Fountains:

Aztec Camera:

The Smiths:

Excellent! This could be hi-tech version of the tiny (3-track) mix tape! (Nothing like the original though)
And I forgot about the youtube embedding feature, I'll need to fix them.

Middle Eastern hardrock music.

PENTAGRAM - Bir

ORPHANED LAND - Norra el Norra

SALEM - Ha'ayara Bo'eret (warning: video contains holocaust footage and is rather explicit)
Keep it flaming your desire, always rising higher - Aim for stars and hit the sky
(Echo & The Bunnymen - Evergreen, 1996)

Capital punishment = murder

Nothing Compares 2 U, another classic.

Songs with food in the title:

Pissed Jeans - I still Got You Ice Cream

Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl

Bright Eyes- Bowl Of Oranges

I think theres a problem with yours CP, I was really looking foward to checking out some middle eastern metal!

I fixed CP's videos. Instead of putting the entire URL between the YouTube tags only put the video ID (the string of characters after the "v=" portion of the video's URL). See this post.

I was introduced to this style of traditional Hula music in a tele programme last night. Did you know traditional male hula is actually based on a martial art? :D Heh....yeah....laugh at that dude who can move his hips like mad and who is wearing a grass skirt, and he'll bust your head with one kick.
I really, really like the singing in this; the show I saw last night was filled with this stuff, it was amazing.

I'm not sure exactly what this defines, but I like it (plus I have the LP upon release):

Hmm...it appears I like this thread.
Been getting into Tuvan music lately. (that little bit of Russia between Mongolia and Kazakhstan)
Then I found this guy, Paul Pena who is blind, learned how to speak Tuvan via English to Russian dictionary and then Russian to Tuvan dictionary, all through an antique tool...this guy blends musics together brilliantly in this video:

where you really should not worry about language, because song is more important:
