"P.S. Bring Me Home And Have Me!"
Leather elbows on a tweed coat
-Oh!-
Is THAT the best you can do ?
So came his reply :

I get what you mean... That Irish-esque opening tune just gets stuck to your head and keeps on reverberating for days! Great song though. Often thought to be about teenage angst, but it ain't the case: Pete Townshend stated several times it's about a Vietnam citizen escaping the war in North Vietnam (hence the "I don't need to fight to prove I'm right" and "take my hand, down south we strand" - down south to the capitalist South Vietnam that is)
Keep it flaming your desire, always rising higher - Aim for stars and hit the sky
(Echo & The Bunnymen - Evergreen, 1996)

At work this summer we would play this song every other night or so (hanging out on the top floor at night) and every one of my co-workers and I would yell all the words (in a crowded little room, mind you) and dance and jump up and down- so hard in fact that we broke the light in the room below us once. It was stupid fun, but it was really truly fun.

I will list my favourite songs here. Mind you, it's a kinda long list... To somewhat limit it, I narrowed it to songs that I have been adoring for a quite long time (so hence the lack of really recent songs) and that remained constantly in my playlist for a longer time.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Crocodiles
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Ocean Rain (*best song ever*)
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Nocturnal me
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Evergreen
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - I'll fly tonight
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - My kingdom
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Bring on the dancing horses
ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - The back of love
HEATHER NOVA - Walk this world
HEATHER NOVA - Winterblue
PLACEBO - Burger queen francais
PLACEBO - Pure morning
PLACEBO - Slave to the wage
PLACEBO - Black-eyed
MARILYN MANSON - The reflecting god
MARILYN MANSON - Cryptorchid
THE SMITHS - How soon is now?
THE SMITHS - Hand in glove
THE SMITHS - There is a light that never goes out
BAUHAUS - Bela Lugosi's dead
BAUHAUS - Hollow hills
BAUHAUS - The passion of lovers
INDOCHINE - L'aventurier
INDOCHINE - Comateen I
MANIC STREET PREACHERS - A design for life
MANIC STREET PREACHERS - The masses against the classes
MUSE - Hysteria
DEPECHE MODE - Enjoy the silence
HEIDEROOSJES - Time is ticking away
BLACK SABBATH - Paranoid
BLACK SABBATH - Sabbath bloody sabbath
SOPOR AETERNUS & THE ENSEMBLE OF SHADOWS - Tales from the inverted womb
SILKE BISCHOFF/18 SUMMERS - 666 Hellbound, the Devil's within you
SILKE BISCHOFF/18 SUMMERS - On the other side I'll see you again
SILKE BISCHOFF/18 SUMMERS - The church-bells and the razorblades
THE VERVE - Bitter sweet symphony
GOO GOO DOLLS - Iris
U2 - Where the streets have no name
U2 - The unforgettable fire
U2 - All I want is you
EVANESCENCE - My immortal
A PERFECT CIRCLE - Brena
THE DAMNED - New rose
SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES - Israel

these are all songs I've been devotely and very frequently listening to for a long time. They would definitely make my all-time top-50. The top-4 is more or less constant (1. Ocean Rain, 2. Nocturnal me, 3. Burger queen francais, 4. Comateen I) but the rest depends on the mood of the day.

Angry Johnny by Poe is one of my ultimate favourites - it's a very haunting song, which I always appreciate ;)

and there is something really seductive in the way she sings, something lusty - which makes such an interesting contrast to the lyrics - about wishing to murder someone...
