Reggae I can give or take, moments of genius definitely, but also there's some I can't stand....

ska punk on the other hand......
I hate that with a burning passion, but that is another matter for another thread, perhaps one titled "lets start a lynch mob for Less Than Jake"

Don't mind reggae at all, I can listen to it. It's not like I loathe it. Same with ska.

Are we counting UB40 as reggae?

Yes, definately.

I adore UB40 and people who don't say they are proper reggae are just picking holes.

I don't find reggae vile at all.
And I don't mind ska as well.

I have to be a little bit drunk, high and happy to enjoy reggae.

I do actually think reggae is vile. The only genre I can think of that I geniunely don't like at all, or perhaps can't understand.

Ska is tolerable in doses of approximately one minute and fifty-one seconds.

i like some reggae, ska and ska-punk. with ska-punk i tend to prefer british bands to american ones; most of the american ones seem to sound just like those pop-punk bands that were fashionable a few years ago, only with an added trumpet or two (e.g. less than jake... who are actually vile!).

Umm, call me stupid but I don't know what's the difference between reggae and ska. <!--emo&-->Image<!--endemo--> I can't say I've listened to a lot of reggae. I like Paprika Korps, though, but they're more like punk-reggae or ska-punk (or whatever the correct term might be) I think.

hmmn ska v reggae, tis a bit like early v late beatles imho
I love ska but reggae is only listenable, ditto wi the late beatles tbh. OK there's exceptions to the rule in both cases but I just love the rough early non complicated stuff! ska is much more upbeat/up tempo than reggae.

love

the only decent way i can think to describe both is by examples, so go listen to them:

reggae would be bob marley.
ska would be reel big fish.
