Any other fans of Bauhaus here?
They are one of my favourite bands of all-time. I am into the gothic subculture, so it may sound a bit cliche, but Bauhaus are just a class band. They weren't just the pioneers, they set the standards and are still role models for every actual Goth band. The band brought a sort of music that was completely new (although influences from Bowie and Joy Division can be heard) and the imaginary used was also completely new. The band didn't take it all too serious and saw it as an act, but they did cause the rise of the Goth subculture.
Bela Lugosi's Dead is obviously their trademark and a legendary song overall, but other must-hears include She's In Parties, The Passion Of Lovers, In The Flat Field (a postpunk anthem), Hollow Hills, Burning From The Inside, Double Dare, All We Ever Wanted (Was Everything), Lagartija Nick, ... plus their excellent covers Ziggy Stardust and Telegram Sam.
The band reunited as a once-off for Coachella Festival last year, or so was the plan. However, they got the spark of darkness again and continued the reunion with a full tour, and this summer they're touring again. In Autumn the first Bauhaus studio album since 1983 is being recorded!
Regardless of the music (which is something you like or not), everyone should see Peter Murphy perform. He's one of the most charismatic frontmen alive, the look in his eyes aline is pure shivers... The man has an incredible charisma and stage personality: mysterious, a bit dark, yet sensual at the same time.
In the margins: I am attending Mera Luna festival this summer for Bauhaus, my second trip to Germany this year and both times it's especially to see Bauhaus (I attended their gig in Berlin already last February)
