Troy Tate

Craig Gannon, Ivor Perry, Stephen Street, John Porter, Troy Tate, what are they up to?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of Troy Tate (guitarist I think with The Teardrop Explodes - quality band)?
For those who don't know, he was employed to produce the Smiths debut album, but having pretty much finished it, he was replace by John Porter who proceeded to re-record the whole album.
Personally I have not heard the whole TT album, but those who have, who does it compare to John Poter's The Smiths?
I have heard TT's Pretty Girls Make Graves, and it is definatley superior.

It's around on the internet apparently, but generally not the finished mix.

I've got the Troy Tate versions of Pretty Girls.... and What Difference Does it Make? - but I prefer both of the songs on the John Porter produced album.
The TT versions just lack any kind of 'oomph' and sound muffled.

I downloaded the album a few months back. On the whole, I prefer the John Porter production, but there are a few exceptions. I prefer:

* The drum-solo intro on "These Things Take Time".
* The pan-pipes (I think they're pan pipes :P) on "Hand In Glove".

And I think I like (:P):

* The weird sound played at about the 59 secs mark on "What Difference Does It Make?".
